five fancies on a friday

I am SO HAPPY that it's Friday (just as I am every week)!
Friday nights and Saturdays are generally my "weekend", my relaxing time.
I'm going to be quite honest, most Saturdays I try not to make any plans, and then I spend a good part of my day in my pajamas. :)

I've been thinking a LOT about Audrey's birthday.
We're less than two months away, so I'm feeling the need to iron some details out.
We have (ahem, I have, with Audrey's consent) decided to make this year's party an Indian Princess Pow Wow.
And yes, I know that is not a politically correct theme. ;)

Since birthdays and feathers and arrows and teepees have been on my mind, they will be dominating this week's fancies.

How awesome is this dreamcatcher print?!
One of my ideas for a possible (small) "friend party" is to set up a dreamcatcher making station.
An embroidery hoop, some yarn, and an assortment of beads and feathers would do the trick!

I absolutely adore the following presentation.
Super simple
And cheap!

I wish that I could guarantee great weather for Audrey's birthday,
but the weather in April, in Central Texas is finicky, to say the least.
Last year we couldn't even set up her cupcakes on a stand because of the wind.
Given the right environment, I would LOVE to have a teepee at her party.
I've seen some super simple tutorials out there and just think of the WOW! factor.

I'm definitely envisioning headdresses on party goers.
Such a fun and easy thing to do.
And, of course, the birthday girl would need a SUPER special one!

And last, but most definitely not least, this tutorial for a flameless fire pit by Free People.
I really don't have the time to take on this project, but I really want to because, well, it's just flipping cool!!

So, there you have it.
Some of my party inspiration.
We'll see how the actual thing turns out.

What are you up to this weekend?

peace, love, and all things sparkly.

sunday morning ramblings

Today is the start of a SUPER busy week for me.
Lots of work, saying good-bye to friends, and of course, all the other stuff that comes around on a normal basis.
But I'm good with it. As long as this week will be, I will also do my best to savor it, and be thankful for it.
I was recently given a promotion at one of my jobs.
It was most definitely a godsend; something that I've been hoping for for awhile now.
Unfortunately, in getting this promotion I will also be losing the companionship of two wonderful coworkers who, over the past year and a half, have also become friends of mine.
But they are moving on to their own wonderful adventures, so there is definitely excitement in the air,
both for myself and for them.
In making this change, I'm also having to deal with something that has been a lifelong struggle for me, the fear of letting someone down.
I'll be moving several of my shifts over from a different job to this one and while I truly have no second thoughts about that decision (it's in our best interest and I've been working at this place for longer), I still hate feeling like I could've possibly offended someone.
I know it's something that I just really need to shake off, and something I'm probably playing up in my head, a whole lot more than it needs to be.
But I digress, this is who I am, and I'm learning to deal with it.

Isn't the above picture so sweet?!
I have to admit, one of the pet peeves I have about reading blogs is that, most of the time, you only see the perfect.
I read a lot of "mommy" blogs and more often than not people only post about the "mommy ups", not the "mommy downs" (myself included).
This can lead to major mama guilt and a feeling of failure, since it's completely natural, as a mom, to compare yourself to other moms.
Let me tell you, the above moment was sweet, and that's the reason I caught a snapshot of it,
because it was a sweet moment bookended by a LOT of not so sweet moments.
Of course, it didn't help that this was during the witching hour, better known as dinner prep, but Lawson was being awful!
The little guy had barely taken a nap and was in a terrible mood.
Crying, whining, fussing, and no matter what Audrey and I tried to do he just wasn't snapping out of it.
I was on my last calm(ish) mama thread and that was about ready to snap.
But the picture is cute, nonetheless. :)

You guys, I am so pumped in life right now.
It's definitely a good time.
Things are progressing on the job front and I am playing around with other "money making" options, which are causing me to delve into a hobby that I never even thought twice about (more on that soon), until a few months ago.
I spend 95% of my free time at home with my kiddos and the hubs, and that is quite honestly, my absolute favorite place to be.
My littles are amazing, even when driving me nuts and my hubs is, by far, my best friend in the whole world.
It's a pretty normal thing for one of us to comment on how much we love the dynamic in our relationship.
I've recently taken up a new exercise endeavor, one that I've been putting off for a long time, but it's going so good.
And maybe it's because I'm turning 30 this year, but I'm really learning about what I want in life and what I want said life surrounded by.
Cheers to self discovery!

Happy Sunday to you all!

peace, love, and all things sparkly.

five fancies on a friday

Hello all and a happy Friday to you!

Are you as excited for the weekend as I am?
My weekends are definitely not super traditional as I work 7-8 hours every single Sunday, but I still relish my time at home with my family on Friday nights and Saturdays.
It's definitely my favorite time of the week.
Any big plans for you this weekend?

Let's jump right into this week's fancies.

In October of this year I will be turning the big 3-0, and considering I never really "do up" my birthday, I decided awhile back that I will be having a shindig this year.
There will be lots of color and texture and FUN!
I am absolutely in love with all of the different honeycomb balls in this picture.
I really never thought that a simple, inexpensive honeycomb ball would be so enticing, but I am all but guaranteeing that there will be a plethora of them at my dirty thirty party.

Something I've been thinking of a lot lately, and truth be told something that has become a way of life for me and the hubs, is being thankful for whatever we have (be it physical or not).
Sure life doesn't ever go 100% perfect, and let me tell you, we've had our share of trials, but there is definitely always something to be thankful for.

I love this ring!
The simplicity of the design combined with the off kilter placement has me drooling.

The hubs wants a goat.
I want an owl.
I mean, c'mon, how cute is this little guy?!

While most (sane?) people just like to admire glitter from afar, I seriously don't mind that this seemingly innocent craft supply gets EVERYWHERE.
It actually makes me smile when I random traces of glitter on my kids or my countertops.
Which is why I think this idea is FABULOUS.
Glitter "emergency" pills.
You just carry them around with you and if you get to a point where you can use a dose of sunshine, rainbows and unicorns, just pop one of these open and toss the glitter around.
I'd totally do it.

peace, love, and all things sparkly.
