So, I am NOT an artist.

I never have and never will claim to be.

I can do crafty things just fine, but if I try to freehand a piece of art, forget about it.

I would love to be able to create something with paint (or charcoal or oil pastels) that is worthy of display, but alas, this is not my forte. 

My fancies today are all works of art that look like the common person should have been able to create.

But if you've ever tried, you know that is far from the truth.

The name of the game today seems to be bright colors.

Kind of ironic considering my last post was all about the loveliness that is black & white.

While I definitely love b&w, color is where it is at for me.

Lots and LOTS of color!!

Here is a nice combination of b&w with some pops of cheery yellow and cool turquoise.

Of course, the sentiment is totally true as well. ;)

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that Easter is just two days away.

I've seen many pictures floating around out there of beautiful Easter eggs,

but this one stood out to me.

I am SO HAPPY that it's Friday (just as I am every week)!

Friday nights and Saturdays are generally my "weekend", my relaxing time.

I'm going to be quite honest, most Saturdays I try not to make any plans, and then I spend a good part of my day in my pajamas. :)

I've been thinking a LOT about Audrey's birthday.

We're less than two months away, so I'm feeling the need to iron some details out.

We have (ahem, I have, with Audrey's consent) decided to make this year's party an Indian Princess Pow Wow.

And yes, I know that is not a politically correct theme. ;)

Since birthdays and feathers and arrows and teepees have been on my mind, they will be dominating this week's fancies.

How awesome is this dreamcatcher print?!

One of my ideas for a possible (small) "friend party" is to set up a dreamcatcher making station.

An embroidery hoop, some yarn, and an assortment of beads and feathers would do the trick!

I wish that I could guarantee great weather for Audrey's birthday, 

but the weather in April, in Central Texas is finicky, to say the least.

Last year we couldn't even set up her cupcakes on a stand because of the wind.

Given the right environment, I would LOVE to have a teepee at her party.

I've seen some super simple tutorials out there and just think of the WOW! factor.

Hello all and a happy Friday to you!

Are you as excited for the weekend as I am?

My weekends are definitely not super traditional as I work 7-8 hours every single Sunday, but I still relish my time at home with my family on Friday nights and Saturdays.

It's definitely my favorite time of the week.

Any big plans for you this weekend?

Let's jump right into this week's fancies.

In October of this year I will be turning the big 3-0, and considering I never really "do up" my birthday, I decided awhile back that I will be having a shindig this year.

There will be lots of color and texture and FUN!

I am absolutely in love with all of the different honeycomb balls in this picture.

I really never thought that a simple, inexpensive honeycomb ball would be so enticing, but I am all but guaranteeing that there will be a plethora of them at my dirty thirty party.

Something I've been thinking of a lot lately, and truth be told something that has become a way of life for me and the hubs, is being thankful for whatever we have (be it physical or not).

Sure life doesn't ever go 100% perfect, and let me tell you, we've had our share of trials, but there is definitely always something to be thankful for.

While most (sane?) people just like to admire glitter from afar, I seriously don't mind that this seemingly innocent craft supply gets EVERYWHERE.

It actually makes me smile when I random traces of glitter on my kids or my countertops.

Which is why I think this idea is FABULOUS.

Glitter "emergency" pills. 

You just carry them around with you and if you get to a point where you can use a dose of sunshine, rainbows and unicorns, just pop one of these open and toss the glitter around.

I'd totally do it.

Looking around the interwebz and IG, I've come to realize that, along with resolutions, coming up with a word for the year at New Years time is catching on.

I been racking my brain trying to come up with a word that I want to define my year.

And I've had no luck, until I started writing this post.

BRAVE. Or more specifically the motto "Be Brave".

I feel like I struck gold with this motto.

No matter what life throws my way, I will BE BRAVE.

In taking the steps that I need to, to get where I want to be (in each and every way), 

I will BE BRAVE.

Seriously, I love it.

Hi there!

Did everyone survive the holidays?

Our little family has barely left the house this week and it's been GLORIOUS!

Multiple pajama days. Naps everyday. Lots of home cooked food.

I love home time with the family!

And can you believe that next Tuesday we'll be ringing in 2013?!

CRAZINESS.

And in preparation for the new year, 

here are a few fancies that depict how I envision a lavish NYE party would be.

They would definitely be the hit of the party!

I'm absolutely in love with these super simple idea for a drink table.

Creating your own "bubbly" wall is as easy as buying pearlized balloons, blowing them up to different sizes, and taping them to a wall.

PERFECT.

How fun to have these little envelopes of confetti set out for all your guests.

Just be prepared to vacuum or sweep after. ;)

As I'm writing this, it is nearing 11:30pm, 

still technically Friday.

So there you have it.

I'm feeling pretty festive right now,

so I have officially decided that this post will be full of gold sparkle.

I need this clutch.

Like really need it.

I'll use it all the time, even paired with jeans and a t-shirt.

I'm tempted to buy some of these gold glitter envelope liners

(with the mint green envelopes to match, of course),

just to have some fancy stationary laying around.

A thought going through my head while writing this post is how interesting it really is how much our personal tastes can change.

I used to despise anything gold.

I thought gold was a cheesy, tacky, ugly color.

Now I find myself falling more and more in love with it.
