30 by 30 :: the list

Welp! Another year gone.
Yes, today is my birthday.
My 29th birthday to be exact.

It's so crazy to think that in 1 year (or 12 months or 52 weeks or 365 days) I'll be officially in my 30s.
So, in celebration of (or preparation for) October 9, 2013,
I have decided to compile my own version of the ever popular 30 by 30 list.
If you have been living under a rock and have no clue what a 30 by 30 list is, let me enlighten you.
It's super simple really, it's a bucket list of sorts, containing 30 things I want to do by the time I turn 30.
These 30 things can be as easy or difficult as the individual wants, but they need to be doable.

1. Have family portraits done.
2. Participate in a 5k.
3. Get another tattoo.
4. Bake a pie from scratch.
5. Finish the Brothers Karamazov.
6. Finish New X-Men and read Astonishing X-Men.
7. Have an "unplugged" weekend.
8. Draw or paint a picture.
9. Do 20 things under $15 “just because” to make me happy (i.e., buy fresh flowers for the living room, get a manicure, buy an ice cream cone). (1/20)
10. Read 52 books. (4/52)
11. Learn how to use my sewing machine and actually make something with it.
12. Have 50 Jen in Wonderland followers.
13. Pay for the person behind me in a drive thru line.
14. Complete 30 crafty projects.
15. Read/watch all of the Harry Potter books/movies (again!) in order.
16. Do 2 consecutive pull ups.
17. Learn how to play What Sarah Said on the piano.
18. Write a novel. 50,000 words.
19. Be able to do 20 consecutive push-ups.
20. Do 5 tourist-y things in my city.
21. Perfect the art of french braiding - using Audrey as my guinea pig, of course.
22. Complete 6 months worth of photo a day challenges.
23. Read 1 non-fiction book a month. (1/12)
24.  Have a date night in every week with the hubs.
25. Learn to crochet.
26. Go to a Farmer's Market.
27. Watch all the Star Trek : TNG movies in order.
28. Make the ultimate Tex-Mex meal (enchiladas, beans, rice, guacamole, margaritas, etc.).
29. Learn 365 (new) Spanish words.
30. Have a kick ass 30th birthday bash where this list (and what I did or didn't accomplish) is read aloud.

Hopefully all of the aforementioned tasks are doable.
We will see.
Check back for updates!!

Is there anything that you would like to do/complete

peace, love, and all things sparkly.

  1. My thoughts on your list:

    5. I'm (finally) at 40% in my personal Brothers Karamzov (Les Miserables), and it feels like a miracle. ha.
    7. I want to do this, actually. I was thinking about it last week.
    13. That's so cool. DeAnna and co and I were going to start this "random acts of kindness" group, but it never went anywhere, and this would have been something we'd have done.
    15. I'm planning on a marathon by the end of the year. ;) COME OVER! <3
    18. I'll be writing if you want some accountability. It's 1666 words a day. ;)
    24. Consider this my offer to babysit sometimes.

This is a great list. I'm super excited to watch you check stuff off the list. :)

  2. Thanks! I'm actually super excited about this list! I was trying to make sure that I didn't get too overly ambitious in my goals. :)

speak easy. speak loud.
