coziness

I'm not sure if it's the cool fall weather that has finally made its way here
or
the fact that we're seriously contemplating renewing our lease (at least for a bit)
when it comes around in a few months,
but I find myself having a serious itch to purge (such an icky word), clean, organize, beautify, and cozify
(yes, my own made up word) my home.

There's something about colder weather that makes me want to curl up on the couch with a blanket, hot drink and good book, all the while burning a yummy pumpkin spice candle.
BUT I can't do this with a messy, disorganized living space.
I would rather look up and see something more Better Homes and Garden instead of Hoarders staring me back in the face.
Okay, okay, so I WAY exaggerate.
My home doesn't look like something off of Hoarders and I know that, at least while I have kiddos, my home will NEVER look like something out BHG.
But this gives you an idea as to what is going on in my little ol' noggin.

So, I am starting today.
My living room and bar area have been tidied up (no fear of something else catching on fire when I light my candles!) and I've made some major progress with my laundry room/pantry.
I love when my home feels and looks cozy and inviting.
The last time I did a complete top to bottom purging and cleaning session was when I was pregnant with Lawson and in a serious nesting phase.
He's currently over 16 months old.
Absolutely (beyond) time to get back at it.

One of the ways I get excited about organizing is by perusing some of my favorite "organizing" blogs.
I get SO many ideas on not only organizing, but also on quick, effective household cleaning and management.
And there are TONS of decor ideas to boot!
Two of my favorite blogs are:
and
Check them out! You won't be disappointed. :)

Okay, I'm off to continue the "fall" cleaning process.
This will definitely be a work in progress, but will be worth it in the end.

peace, love, and all things sparkly.

  1. I'm doing a variation of my own "fall cleaning" in preparation for our impending move. I don't want to move all sorts of things that we don't even need to keep. That is a waste of effort. So far, I've cleared out the shelving in our laundry room (it was packed with boxes we haven't looked at in a year) and the ugly little corner in our bedroom where all sorts of files and paperwork had piled up. I totally agree with you - it feels great to get things organized and more streamlined!

Can't wait to see the new version of your place. ;)

  2. Good for you! Getting rid of stuff is super hard for me (hello, packrat!), but I'm finding it necessary for my happiness. :)
Our place might end up looking WAY different. One of the ideas we're toying with is moving the kids into the master and us into Audrey's room. It makes the most sense space-wise.
