mySTYLE :: ripped jeans

One fashion statement that I'm glad has become more and more acceptable to wear is ripped denim.

Whether it be shorts or jeans (my favorite!), this trend exudes cool and casual.

Below are some of my favorite ways that I've seen it styled.

Take note that most are super simple and easy to recreate.

I'm really loving the color of the shirt below and a scoop neck is pretty universally flattering.

Also the combo of the brighter top and darker wash jeans adds a bit of flair.

The added touch of a black blazer type jacket adds a bit of polish to the following jeans and tee combo.

mySTYLE :: black & white

As much of a fan of color as I am,

sometimes I crave the simplicity of black & white.

These two colors never go out of style and are the perfect backdrops for whatever other color combos you are loving at the moment.

I find black & white in bold patterns the most intriguing.

This anchor print would be fabulous hanging in a bathroom or kitchen.

I'm really digging the idea of layered and mismatched throw pillows for both the bed and couch.

mySTYLE :: layers

Folks, I live in Central Texas, and let me tell you layering is a MUST during the "winter" months.

And when I talk about layering, I'm talking light layers.

You might get a few weeks here and there where a heavier coat or bulky sweater is needed,

but honestly the temps dipping below freezing is cause for weather alerts on the news.

For this time of year the average low is in the 40s and the average high is in the 60s.

So, in the morning you might need some protection from the nippy weather, but in the afternoon you will be sweltering if you get in your car, that has been sitting outside, in a heavy winter ensemble.

Thus, the layers. 

Clothing that will keep you toasty in the morning, but that you can peel off bit by bit as the day progresses and the temps get higher.

I have to admit, I live in cardigans during this time of year.

And if the day gets off to a more bitter(cold) start, I might just throw a hoodie on for good measure.

mySTYLE :: southwestern appeal

There many different terms for what I feel falls into the "southwestern" trend category.
Southwestern. Navajo. Aztec. Ikat.
They all embrace the same earthy, native quality.
I remember being obsessed with all things southwest when I was a kid.
I think our frequent family trips to New Mexico and Colorado,
helped to seal this "trend" as a lasting one in my book.

Love this wall hanging.
Depending on the size, I would most likely hang it over my bed.

What is one fall/winter wardrobe item that everyone seems to love?

Scarves, of course!

There are so many different kinds of scarves out there, it really is quite ridiculous.

Different colors, patterns, and fabrics too.

Some people use them to keep cozy and warm during the chillier months, but alas, I am not one of them.

To me scarves are purely an accessory.

Maybe it's because where I live, the number of days where a scarf is necessary is super limited?

I don't know.

My favorite scarves are in fun patterns and colors with a very light fabric (don't want to roast).

 I absolutely love when they are used to make a super casual outfit fun and outing acceptable.

I adore the way light scarves look paired with a simple white tank, jeans, and funky jewelery.
